High School (Grades 9-12)
NUA 1001 STEAM offers a rigorous college preparatory program, emphasizing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) integrated into its core curriculum at our Kearny Mesa location. High school students learn core subjects with a focus on developing 21st-century skills. Courses are rigorous, requiring a certain degree of focus and ambition. However, students become enthusiastic to learn and passionate about relevant subject matter, allowing them to thrive academically and personally.
Central to the program is ensuring that high school students are well prepared for college and careers post-graduation. NUA 1001 STEAM offers:
- UC (a-g) and AP® courses
- SAT & ACT-prep guidance
- College and career-planning support from counselors
- Guidance and help with submitting college applications
- Concurrent enrollment—students may be able to take college courses while still in high school. Some restrictions may apply
- In addition to a diploma, students can earn a Global Citizen or Robotics Certificate
Additionally, students have the unique opportunity to attend classes on the National University college campus, and work closely with college engineering and computing students and professors in the state-of-the-art robotics lab. Students are highly motivated and inspired by the exposure to college life.
